Electro-Voice RE20
The Shure Beta 58a is an ideal choice if you’re playing an ensemble in the studio. If what you need is something better, then you might opt for the Electro-Voice RE20.
This mic is cardioid, like the SM58a, so it would focus its pickup on your instrument while rejecting surrounding instruments.
The RE20 is one of the finest dynamic mics that money can buy, and it has a price tag to match too.
It is commonly mentioned in the same breath as the comparable Shure SM7b. However, the Electro-Voice RE20 is more flattering on harsh singing voices – and on the baritone sax as well.

Electro-Voice 635a
If you love to record your baritone sax solo in isolation, the Electro-Voice RE20 and Shure Beta 58a are great choices.
However, an even better mic is the Electro-Voice 635a that is only recently available for recording.
This uniquely omnidirectional dynamic mic has a quick flattering frequency response, that has been compared to the inverse of the SM57. So, whatever frequencies the SM57 accentuates, the 535a dampens, and vice versa.
What you enjoy from this is a smooth, flattering dynamic mic, with surprisingly airy high frequencies.
When used in a good-sounding room, the mic will capture more room sound.
Pro Tip: You should try tilting the mic more toward the bell for a more intimate sound, or more to the ceiling to capture more room reverb.
